Landscaping Tweaks to Use Less Water

Updated: Nov 5, 2018

With mandatory water restrictions now in place, there was never a better time to reduce water use. While some folks are jumping on the opportunity to replace water-thirsty lawns with low water plantings, others may not be ready for a complete landscape overhaul. If you want to use your water more efficiently, but avoid a complete landscape renovation, here are a few options to consider:

1. Most residents of San Diego can qualify for a FREE watersmart checkup! A certified irrigation professional will come to your door and provide recommendations for increasing indoor and outdoor water use efficiency. Learn more and apply at: http://www.watersmartcheckup.org/

2. Weather based control stations adjust irrigation duration and frequency based on real time weather and historical data. Many irrigation timers are compatible with weather based systems. These systems can range from $500-$1500 for installation and typically reduce landscape water use by 20% or more. Contact Revolution Landscape for more info.

3. Replacing standard spray nozzles with MP Rotator spray heads can result in 30% less water use. If you want to keep your lawn, but use water more efficiently, this may be a good option for you!
